Malta, NY Take 25, a program of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), aims to heighten awareness of children's personal safety issues.  With a focus on prevention, the campaign encourages parent, guardians, and other role models to spend time talking to kids to teach them ways to be safer.  Parents, teachers, and officials are encouraged to TAKE 25 minutes and talk with children about personal safety.

Take 25 was started to commemorate National Missing Children's Day which occurs every year on May 25th.

The local Take 25 event is hosted by TreePaad Fun Center in Malta, NY  and happens Friday, May 28th from 4-7pm.  there is no admission cost for this educational program.  Every Fort Pass Sold tonight ($8/child - $1 will be donated to Harriet M. West Child Advocacy Center.)

Bring the whole family and meet the Saratoga Police Department Canine Unit.  They will have a presentation on drug safety, offer fingerprinting and even have a Deputy canine on hand.

There will be a Fire Safety exhibit provided by the Round Lake Fire Department. Malta Ambulance and State Farm agent, Mike Mulligan will be presenting many safety programs and handouts on child car seats. Axis Technologies will be sponsoring a special Internet Safety Presentation by Chris Norton & Matt Hladun, Director of Technology at Queensbury School.

Saratoga Center for the Family will provide an activity for kids and families to take home, as well as “5 Tips for Keeping Kids Safe” and other informational brochures.  In addition, members of our staff will be available to answer questions about their services.  Saratoga Center for the Family is Saratoga County’s primary provider of child abuse prevention and treatment services. They serve child and adult survivors of abuse, parents and children with emotional and behavioral counseling needs; and is home to the Harriet M. West Child Advocacy Center.  The Advocacy Center is designed to be a child friendly location in which a comprehensive coordinated approach is taken in response to allegations of child abuse.  It provides a warm, caring environment that places the child’s needs first and provides one location to interview, examine and counsel abused children while preparing for prosecution of child abuse cases.

The TreePaad Fun Center opened on September 23, 2009 and is located at 2381 Route 9, just south of the Route 9 roundabout located in Malta.  TreePaad Fun Center boasts an array of exciting games and interactive play areas, sure to keep the family entertained for hours, but what sets TreePaad even further apart from other family play areas is the party experience that is second to none.

The TreePaad Fun Center allows children and adults to enjoy the activities together, like the custom designed Fort Ballocity.  Fort Ballocity is a three-story interactive play arena and indoor playground featuring twisty-turny tube slides, “waterless” waterslides and multi-story padded climbing tours.  Fort Ballocity provides hours of entertainment for the whole family.

During the Take 25 event on the 28th, $1.00 from every Fort Ballocity ticket sold will be donated to the Harriet M. West Child Advocacy Center.

Southern Saratoga Chamber Mixer
January 2010   by Christopher Matte

TreePaad is quickly becoming the place for family fun and soon may become thee place for mixers!  In early January, TreePaad provided the venue for a fun-filled SSCC mixer in which over 100 members attended.  Attendees enjoyed the outstanding, homemade beverages and beer tasting provided by Patti Bethel of Coopers Cave Ale and the delicious culinary workings of Chef Rob, also from The Pub at Cooper’s Cave located in Glens Falls.   Mike Smith of Dog Ate My Homework (Glens Falls) was also there to make the night more enjoyable by providing a wide selection of Adult books for sale.  Aside from the local vendors and the “mixing”, guests were entertained with arcade games, laser tag and even Fort Ballocity!   Lots of fun was had, and lots of prizes were won; for your mixing needs, TreePaad is second to none.

Community Generosity at its Best
December 2009  by:  Christopher Matte

Sometimes the generosity of a community can go above and beyond what anyone could ever expect and the employees of TreePaad were witnesses to an event that demonstrated just that.  On December 20th, Treepaad hosted a benefit for Larry and Lynn Sweet and their family.  This benefit was necessary due to the unfortunate events that led to the Sweets losing all of their worldly possessions in a terrible fire; a fire in which they were lucky to escape with their lives.  The benefit, and coinciding food drive, went so well that TreePaad and the very generous donors were not only able to help the Sweet family with some money, food and supplies, but also help another family from Milton as well.  Mary Woodcock and her family, who also lost everything in a fire, received a refrigerator, stove, washer, dryer and food; much more than we ever thought could be done.

TreePaad would like to give a huge thank you to all of those who contributed in anyway.  This event was extremely successful because of you and your generosity.  TreePaad would also like to give a special thanks to Mike from Dog Ate My Homework who so generously donated 25% from all his book sales that day. Again, thank you to all!

For The Love of Animals
By:  Christopher Matte                 Press Release - Jan 10, 2009

Recently, TreePaad had the pleasure of hosting a birthday party for a young lady who had a very special and heartfelt request.  Victoria Taglione turned her birthday into a celebration that many of us won’t soon forget by requesting donations instead of gifts.  Victoria loves animals, and she saw her special day as an opportunity to help those animals she cares so much about.  Her request was that those attending the party donate at least $5, instead of bringing a birthday present, in order for her to make a donation to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter.

Also, in order to raise awareness and provide volunteer information, she handed out SCAS calendars as party favors.  Needless to say, her party was a hit!  Not only did her and her guests have a great party at TreePaad, they also made some animals at the shelter very, very happy.

Victoria’s generosity doesn’t stop at her birthday; she has pledged to donate her time to help feed the animals at the shelter as well.  Way to go Victoria!
